  • Who started the fight? Is there a specific person to blame?

  • What is the weather like in the scene? Does the weather contribute to the fight?

  • After cursing the Montagues and Capulets, why did Mercutio list off the names of animals?

  • Was there a way to stop the fight? Did the culture of dueling prevent the boys from acting rational?

  • Did Tybalt deserve to die?

  • Is Mercutio responsible for his death?
