The Treaty of Versailles was the peace treaty that ended World War I. This treaty tried to deal with various issues that led World War I and that were involved in the start of the war.

One factor leading to the start of World War I was that people wanted to be ruled by people of their own nationality. Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Turkey were ruling many people of different nationalities. The Versailles Treaty took land away from the Central Powers and created new countries where their own people ruled the country. For example, Poland became a country after World War I and was ruled by Polish people.

The Versailles Treaty tried to weaken the Central Powers. Germany was building up its military before World War I began. Militarism was a cause of World War I. After World War I ended, Germany was allowed to have a military with only defensive capabilities. Germany’s military was dismantled at the end of World War I by the terms of the Versailles Treaty.

The Versailles Treaty also tried to prevent future wars from occurring. The League of Nations was created. This allowed countries to have a place where they could discuss their disputes instead of fighting over them.

The Versailles Treaty impacted the world in various ways after World War I ended.
